How long is it meant to take to get over a relationship?

I'm only asking because my ones can take several years. I spent from 1992 to 1996 getting over one relationship. That can't be healthy. It also pisses me off because I could have spent a good deal of that time having a lot more sex than I did.

On the plus side, I did build up an admirable collection of slow and sad music...

Older and wiser now, I think I cope better with such things. But I'm definitely still a slow mover in the relationships stakes.
