labour is blossoming or dancing where
the body is not bruised to pleasure soul,
nor beauty born out of its own despair,
nor blear-eyed wisdom out of midnight oil.

o chestnut tree, great rooted blossomer,
are you the leaf, the blossom or the bole?
o body swayed to music, o brightening glance,
how can we know the dancer from the dance?

happy birthday to me.

oopsie. haven't given y'all an update for a while now, eh? well i'm sorry, i've been having a life.

i'm still smitten, and go all gooey when he's around. wish there wasn't so much work in the way though.

and i've just got back from a week in London and Brighton, half work half holiday. nice place, Brighton, though i can't recommend the George IV hotel on regency square - for 75 quid a night you get the constant stink of cigarettes, the noisiest floorboards in the world, and a wide variety of undesirable neighbours ranging from the pissed queens acting out an incest-rape fantasy and then giggling about it, to the pissed straight boys stomping around for four hours straight and hiring a hooker with whom they each seemed to spend about 30 seconds.

ho hum. i'm thirty in two days. fuck.

one hundred and forty seven pounds. bloody hell. well it's taught me the lesson, anyway. i'll not be parking in any more residents parking bays.

they're a cheery lot, the council vehicle impound yard staff. really seem to enjoy their jobs.

so, farewell then, queen mum. you were indeed one month too late (or eleven months early - i had february in our sweepstake). it must have been a short working day on fleet street - 'just put today's date on that edition we wrote ten years ago and let's go to the pub'.

so it was the wedding this (easter) weekend, and it was fantastic. i actually did have a small weep at a couple of points, in between drinking plentifully, eating eventually and dancing incessantly. now obviously i'm swayed by my current state of mind, but i reckon it was the nicest wedding i've been to. lots of lovely individual touches and a great deal of warmth from everyone in the place.

the only dark spot was that i had left my car in a hurry in a residents' parking space, and the bastards towed it. the impound yard is, of course, closed until tuesday morning, cos it's easter, so i am temporarily carless, and tomorrow i shall be slightly poorer.

still, mustn't grumble!

you know the sound a baby makes when he gurgles with happiness? the wide eyed wonder, and the unstoppable smile?

that's me, that is. i'm brimming over.
