i think i have had fish and chips about ten times in the past two weeks. that can't be healthy, eh? mind you, it's better than burger and chips.

i think my body is telling me to lay down fat for the winter. and i'm not one to ignore my body.

had my bone density test results. i have 2% more spine than i did this time last year. although the margin of error is around 3%. hmm. but i found out why the computer sent out that letter rearranging my clinic time by five minutes - it's because they moved the clinic to a completely different building on the other side of the hospital. but they didn't bother to say that in the letter. instead, i went to where it used to be and there were no lights on and no-one around. but a passing nurse saw me and told me where it had gone to.

i'm not going to knock the nhs, because i think the people do a good job. but christ i'm glad i'm not properly ill!

okay, i'm sorry, i haven't updated for a while here. it's just been a busy time, okay?

much happening, including two more blasts from the past from the fabulous friendsreunited - hello jo and mel!

but that's not why i'm here. instead i would like to share a story from columbia which gave me pause. there's a full treatment of the story on the bbc news site. briefly, though:

norberto perez is a columbian policeman. he might be a good guy, he might be a bad guy, i don't know. he was, however, kidnapped two years ago by a revolutionary group and has been held hostage ever since as they try to trade him for one of their incarcerated members.

andres felipe perez is his twelve year old son. he has cancer and is close to death. it is thought that a kidney transplant would help him live a little longer, but the only donor believed to be suitable is his father. in any event he is thought to have only weeks to live.

more than 2000 ordinary people have offered themselves to be taken hostage in place of norberto. 2000. wow.

made me think, anyway.
